Bill Guo
Bill Guo is the Chairman and founder of Venturepharm Group, he has over 9 years global pharmaceutical experiences from researcher to senior executive in Johnson & Johnson, Novapharm and Venturpharm Canada in North America, and 8 years of entrepreneurs experiences in China.
Mr. Guo is Ph.D. candidate pharmaceutics and conferred with an MSc industrial pharmacy from the University of Toronto, MBA program from Herriot Watt University and Executive education from Judge business school, University of Cambridge UK.
Fortune magazine recognized him as one of the most potential entrepreneurs in China. He was also recipient of various rewards: 2005 National Labor Hero awarded by the state council of China; One of the Ten best management elites in China in 2004; One of the ten most influential individual in economic field of China, 2005; Distinguished entrepreneur awarded from oversea by government of China, 2005; Sole winner of Youth Chinese Entrepreneur Award organized by Asia Business Week in 2003; 2005 Entrepreneurs and innovation by BCC (British Chamber of Commerce).
Maria Song
Dr Maria Song, M.D, Registered Pharmacist, Vice President of Venturepharm Group, and General Manager of Venturepharm CRO Services. Master of management.
Graduated from Peking Union Medical University in 1995, Dr Song was honored with M.D. Before joining Venturepharm Dr Song has been undertaking important positions in a famous pharmaceutical company. Leading R&D of a series of national type 1, type 2 and type 4 new drugs, Dr Song has enormous experience in the whole process of pre-clinical pharmacy, pharmacology and clinical research.
Leading by Dr Song, Venturepharm CRO Services has becoming the largest clinical CRO Services is the only international CRO in China, which is publicly listed abroad. It is also recognized as one of the most authority CRO in clinical research in traditional Chinese medicine. In year 2003, Venturepharm CRO Services is honored as one of the 10 best national foreign investor companies in China.
Zhirui Zhai
Mr. Zhai is the Vice President of Group, in charge of manufacture. He graduated from Medical Department of Peking University and has over thirty years of experience in manufacture management. He used to be General Manager and Vice General Manager in Sinoway Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd
George Peng
Mr. George Peng is the Vice President of Group, in charge of finance and investment. He has over ten years of experience in investment management and financing in US, U.K and China. He has been involved in financing and Sino-JV projects for the Chinese market. Before joining Venturepharm, he was a co-founding partner of a consulting company, responsible for corporate finance and international partnership services. Prior to that job, he worked in the investment industry in New York, London and Beijing for many years.
Mr. Peng holds a Master of Finance and Investment degree from Durham University (UK).
Dr. Tom Tuo Jin
Dr. Tom Tuo Jin, is the Joint Chief Technology Officer. Dr. Jin holds M. D from University of Toronto and Ph. D from Hokkaida University. Dr. Jin engaged in education and pharmaceutical R&D in Japan, USA Novartis and Canada for years. Dr. Jin was a researcher with Aventis-Pasteur (USA), Supervisor of Formulation Division with BioDelivery Science (USA), as well as Associate Professor with Long Island University. Dr. Jin is the dean of Sinican Institute. Dr. Jin published 25 articles in periodical and applied for 10 patents. Dr. Jin is a member of American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists.
Dr. Tarun GUPTA
Dr. Tarun GUPTA, is the co-head of the Group¡¯s Business Development Department (International Division). He is also the Chief Executive Officer of P.K. Pharmatech in India. Dr. Gupta has obtained his degree of bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery in December 1982. He worked with Lupin Laboratories Limited of India before he joined the Group in December 2000 and was seconded to the exclusive marketing and distribution agent in Hong Kong in 1996. He was responsible for marketing and distributing of product of Lupin Group in the Asia region. He has over ten years of experience in the field of pharmaceutical industry.
Dr. Dai got his Ph.D. from the postgraduate school of PLA General Hospital and worked there as a chief physician in cardiovascular department. He has been engaging in clinical medical treatment, medical affairs and scientific research for about 20 years. Before joining Venturepharm service CRO group, Dr. Dai had been working as a manager in a large multinational pharmaceutical company and conducting 0many clinical trails on antihypertension new drugs and new hypoglycemic agents. He has rich experience in pharmacogenomics research, clinical trials and intellectual property rights. He is engaging in clinical trials design and new drugs development in Venturepharm.
Peter Huang, M.D, Ph.D.
Director, incharge of northern market
Dr. Huang graduated from First Military Medical University, and got his Ph.D. from PLA 301 Hospital. Dr. Huang did his post doctoral research in Thomas Jaferson University, USA. Before joining Venturepharm, Dr. Huang was working, as a marketing manager, in a large Japanese pharmaceutical company.
BuLin, M.D. Ph.D.
Director, incharge of southern market
Dr. Bu graduated from Tsukuba University in Japan, and got his Ph.D degree. He has taken EMBA courses in Renming University of China and got its certificate. He has been engaging in Medical Affairs for above twenty years. Before joining Venturepharm, Dr. Bu served in a large Japanese pharmaceutical enterprise for five years, Then he worked as the General manager, in a well-known domestic pharmaceutical company. Dr. Bu has extensive experience in Medical Affairs and Marketing Administration. He is the Business Manager in Venturepharm.
NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS
Mr. FENG Tao, is nominated as a non-executive Director by C Tech Fund. Mr. Feng obtained a Master degree in Science from the Department of Statistics and Applied Probability from the University of Alberta in June 1992. Mr. Feng has been serving as the Vice President Officer of the The Foundation of Science and Technology for Development of the State Planning Committee, State Economic and Trade Commission of the PRC and China Science Academy since September 1999. He was appointed as non-executive Director in August 2002.
Mr. WU Xin, is a non-executive Director nominated by C Tech Fund. Mr. Wu is a vice-president of NewMargin. Mr. Wu obtained his Master of Science degree from Stanford University in Engineering-Economic Systems in 1994 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Illinois in May 1993. Prior to joining NewMargin, Mr. Wu worked in Chase Capital Partners, an investment firm, and at Robertson Stephens & Company, an investment firm based in San Francisco. He was appointed as nonexecutive Director in August 2002.
Dr. Nathan Xin ZHANG, is a non-executive director. Dr. Zhang is the former chief executive officer of Chipscreen Biosciences Ltd., a leading Chinese biotech company specialized in innovated cancer, diabetes, and osteoporosis drug discovery. Dr. Zhang had worked with KPMG LLP and Credit Suisse First Boston. Dr. Zhang holds an M. D from Tianjin Medical University, Ph. D from University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from the University of Chicago, USA.
INDEPENDENT NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS
Mr. WANG Hong Bo, is an independent non-executive Director and is the chairman of the audit committee. He is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Wang graduated from Nan Kai University with a master
degree. Mr. Wang is presently a finance manager of TCL Group Limited. Mr. Wang has over 10 years of experience in auditing. He was appointed as independent non-executive Director in September 2004. Mr. Paul CONTOMICHALOS, is an independent non-executive Director. He holds an MBA from the Columbia University in May 1985. Mr. Contomichalos had worked for Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS). His first position in China was to start up the consumer over-the-counter business of Bristol-Myers Squibb in 1994. He became Chairman and President of Bristol-Myers Squibb China from 1997 to 2000. Prior to working in China, Mr. Contomichalos held various key consumer marketing and business development positions with Bristol-Myers Squibb in the USA and Canada and has about 18 years of experience in this field. He was appointed as independent non-executive Director in August 2002.
Mr. WU Ming Yu, is an independent non-executive Director. Mr. Wu is a member of the education committee of the China (Hainan) Reform Development Research Institute, a member of Standing Committee of China Association of Science and Technology; President of Chinese Society of Technology Economics; Honorary President of China Society of Science and Science Technology Policy Research and Vice-President of China Society of Land Economics Research. Mr. Wu has
held the post of Vice Minister of the Development Research Center of the State Council, Vice Minister of the State Science and Technology Commission; President of China Technology
Economic Research Institute; Vice President of China Society of Science and Science Technology Policy; Economist of Economy Research Institute of the State Council and President of Asia-Pacific Research Institute. He was appointed as independent non-executive Director in August 2002.
